House in Jaunsāti

Remains of historic barn foundations mark the location of a weekend house within a rural farmsted. A storage shed, an outdoor fireplace area and a sauna are all accommodated under one roof.

The new building keeps the character of the previous barn thus becoming an organic part of the complex.

The two buildings create a loosely defined courtyard and allow for a sense of privacy within the vast countryside.

Traditional construction principles are used to fullfill contemporary necessities.
